【領事專訪|地緣經濟】(4)Laos-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Growth Path
In 2024, direct flights between Hong Kong and Vientiane were operated to boost people-to-people exchanges, tourism, and future trade and investment. By 2025, under the Belt and Road Initiative, students from HKSAR traveled to Laos for study tours, marking an important step in promoting cultural exchanges among youth. Looking back at bilateral trade, the two-way trade reached more than 900,000 US dollars in 2005, increased to more than 2.5 million US dollars in 2011, and climbed to 17 million US dollars in 2024, where Lao exports to HKSAR account for 70% of the trade value. Currently, HKSAR ranks 6th in foreign direct investment in the Lao PDR, highlighting strong interest from Hong Kong capital in the Lao market.
