【領事專訪|國際經貿】(2)The Robust Fabric of Hong Kong -Philippine Economic Ties
Economic ties between the Philippines and Hong Kong are robust and expanding. In 2025, bilateral merchandise trade reached US$14.22 billion, with Philippine exports amounting to US$12.33 billion and imports from Hong Kong at US$1.89 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of US$10.43 billion. Philippine exports are concentrated in integrated circuits, semiconductor devices, gold, electric motors, and transport storage equipment, while imports include machine parts, electronics, and semiconductor components.
Looking ahead, the Consul General highlighted that both sides will deepen cooperation across several key areas, namely: tourism infrastructure; export-oriented manufacturing particularly electronics, garments, furniture, and home furnishings; public infrastructure and public-private partnership (PPP) projects which leverages Hong Kong's investment environment; technology and innovation which aligns with Hong Kong's Northern Metropolis development; and creative industries spanning film, animation, and gaming. These sectors reflect the shared vision of building a prosperous and sustainable future together, where economic growth is matched by cultural exchange and people-to-people ties.
